In modern society where television, comic magazines, action books, video games, fantasy films, fairy tales, magical stories we read and found on the internet or social networks which occupy most of the time in our children and adolescents is something that we should pay attention to.
The negative effects of these fantasy stories especially for our children and adolescents is something that we must identify when those stories negatively influence their behaviors. Given the possibility that children and adolescents exposed to these imaginative images may some of them imitate in the future as real events is something that parents should pay attention to.
Behind a positive story of fantasies are always hidden ideas that negatively affect children and adolescents in the long run, if the supervision of an adult is not present at the time this story is told. If we do not understand the scope of the message of some of these fanciful stories that children so much enjoy and try to imitate, we are not protecting their mental health.
If parents do not pay attention to these stories of fantasies can bring negative consequences that affect the child’s long-term self-esteem, if parents do not explain from the beginning the difference between what is a real fact and what is an imaginary story.
It is important to recognize the message that children receive through these means, without proper supervision of elders to explain what it means and the impact of such messages for those whose minds are not prepared to identify in some of them, may be detrimental to the future.
What is the difference between reality and the fantasy world created in many of these stories for a child population that does not know that difference? It is something that parents should keep in mind when they allow this type of message in a child population that may or may not be prepared to understand the message.
The stories of heroes and heroines, stories of the princess in trouble that needs to be saved, the story of the beautiful who fell in love with the beast by the most famous of all the princess who awakens by the magic kiss of her prince that she she does not know (The Sleeping Beauty) and more recently the magical stories that are equally enjoyed by young and old listeners.
“All these fantasy stories can be imitated by the child population and an adult does not explain the fanciful character of the story he is looking at.”
If you are a fan of Harry Potter books and some of the most famous movie franchises introduced by disney studios (Pixar) like Frozen and Lion King. You should see this kind of images, rather than as an entertainment a way to teach the child population how to manage in the future.
For many, these stories of so many were created to entertain the child mind of children whose imagination is still at a stage of development. No matter how much some parents try to deny it, many children and adolescents do not possess enough emotional maturity to perceive these images as the product of the imagination of writer.
There lies part of the problems, when the fantasies of these children’s stories begin to be important part in the magical world of the child’s mind, as a method of teaching or learning accepted as true the conduct of these characters by the imagination of the child. In an age these children do not know the difference between the magical world that exists in their minds and the real world.
Why do some children try to imitate the central figures in these fantasy stories at one point in their life as real? It is something we must understand the moment we allow.
